Summer Wedding Guest Look
Happy 1st week of June! This past weekend was pretty busy for me with client appointments, but I’m excited for the Season ahead — both with sunny weather and fun in the Park/Beach with Charlie, and helping my clients update their looks for Summer-time.
I had a few amazing client shopping & styling sessions at Sézane, & Other Stories and Banana Republic this past week, and all 3 stores have great collections this Season, with fun colors, prints and silhouettes. Be sure to check out my Instagram for a closer look at some of the mini store tours/my favorite styles I’ve featured.
June also marks the beginning of Wedding Season, and in today’s post I wanted to share a great outfit formula that’s perfect for wedding guest attire — and bridges the gap between formal (not quite black-tie) and cocktail.
The ingredients to this look are:
- A classic sheath dress. This silhouette is flattering on most body types as it cinches at the waist and hugs shoulders and hips to create an hourglass shape. I chose this stunning Rachel Parcell Bell Sleeve Sheath Dress, that comes in Red and Navy, and is a Nordstrom Exclusive. The fabric has both stretch and drape (for extra comfort when you’re hitting the hors d’ouvres during Cocktail Hour 😉 ) and the exposed back zipper in a shiny gold metal adds a touch of glamour – and drama, as do the bell sleeves that hit just above the wrists to appear more flattering and not overwhelm the arms. The scoop neckline and modest length give it a proper yet sexy feel.
- A pair of extra fun statement earrings. I chose these Tassel Earrings by Kingston Jewellery (I’ve featured a different design by Kingston in an earlier post as well). It’s an Australian brand, and the designer, Jemima, has such a fun yet elegant aesthetic that I want all of the styles she designs! I did purchase 4 pairs during her last re-stock, and look forward to showing you guys how I styled them in a few upcoming posts.
- Monochromatic shoes. Part of the elegance of this look comes from in-tone footwear. I chose these Jimmy Choo Patent Leather Slides in Hot Pink — which don’t distract from the dress as pink is in the red Hue (family of color) so they continue the line instead of creating a sharp horizontal break. The heel is sensible but elevated enough to feel dressy. These shoes are from many years ago from the BG Summer Sale (going on now, by the way — tons of great options HERE), but below I’ve found a few similar and inspired-by options.
- Classic handbag. My Celine Mini Luggage is a great day-time option for this look, and for evening, you can swap it out for a clutch or small shoulder bag — see some options below.
I hope this inspires you to try this outfit formula for your next Summer Wedding! Please feel free to share the looks you create using hashtag #ModnitsaOutfit in your posts, and I’ll be sure repost them on my stories!
