Dress Season, Vol. 1 with Gal Meets Glam
Sorry I’ve been MIA for a few weeks, had a busy month with travel and getting ready to celebrate Charlie’s 1 year birthday tomorrow! (AH! where did the time go?!)
I’m super excited about the warm weather peaking in every once in a while, and Mercury Retrograde finally coming to an end (also happening tomorrow), and decided it’s time to celebrate with 4 weeks of Spring/Summer dresses by none other than Julia, the blogger/designer behind the Gal Meets Glam Collection!
If you follow me on Instagram (and if you don’t – I’d love it if you did @modnitsa), you know that Charlie and I went to check out a few stores in Florida when we there a few weeks ago, where Gal Meets Glam dress are sold, and I shared what we found on Insta Stories. As promised, I’m styling my favorite ones from her recent launches over the next few weeks, starting with this adorable Kathleen Button Front Dress, which I purchased at Anthropologie as they now sell some of her designs. Ironically, it’s basically sold out on their site, but below you can find a few more sources. Because most of the Gal Meets Glam Collection Dresses are super feminine and chic, I wanted to show you guys some ways you can make them more every-day by adding colorful touches, accessories and playing around with layers.
For this look, I worked with a blue and peach/orange color story, which is truly one of my fave color combos for Spring/Summer. It’s really fun but is also sophisticated, youthful and definitely very every-day-wearable.
I paired the dress with my Rebecca Taylor Washed Leather Crop Jacket in Ocean Dusk [light blue] — it’s sold out online in this color, but since they tend to come back with the same/similar silhouettes each season, I’ve included a few new colors and updated styles below.
For other pops of blue in my outfit, I wore my Salinas Striped Slide Sandals by Tory Burch (sold out, but I included a few similar/”inspired by” styles), wove this printed pleated scarf from Zara into my mini bucket Mansur Gavriel Bag, and last but not least, chose a pair of Kingston Jewelry Blue and Orange Tassel Earrings — that perfectly repeat and coordinate with the colors of the outfit.
The best way to follow a color story in your look is to pay attention to the small details, and infuse texture and/or pattern to create dimension.
Here are my 3 stylist tips to create a look that’s both colorful and classic, without overdoing it:
2) Include 1-2 similar tones in those hues (color families) to make the look more interesting but still not too busy or fussy.
3) Help your accessories tie it all together by representing both colors of the main pieces so they appear purposeful, and “link” the outfit together.
I hope this inspires you to add some pops of blue and orange to your outfits for Spring and Summer, please do share your looks on instagram with #ModnitsaStyle so I can repost them on my stories!
