Summer Chic NYC Style
Hello, June! The Spring weather is still holding strong here in NYC – and I’m soaking up every moment before the Summer heat arrives!
A couple of days ago, I took a stroll around Dumbo after one of my Personal Styling Sessions – and enjoyed the unusually not-busy Dumbo area for a little “me time”. I wore one of my favorite new dresses from Gal Meets Glam. Even though the line is no longer producing new designs, there are still some you can find online – and I’ve had my eye on this Floral Pleated Teresa Dress since it first came out. I was glad to find it on sale at Saks Off 5th (sold out since). It paired really well with my new Margaux NYC shoes. As I was walking around, I saw some amazing wicker chairs and tables – so naturally, I had to take some pics as they were a match made in heaven to my look 🙂
Here are the exact ingredients to this outfit formula:
- A Chic Dress. This dress has the perfect length – and wrap bodice, that’s really flattering and makes me feel feminine and put-together. It looks like something my grandmother must have worn back in her day – and as I wrote in my very first blog post, she was a really fashionable woman and my inspiration – she had her dresses custom-tailored back in the after-war Russia times, and always looked current and feminine – despite the limited resources of those years, a true “modnitsa”. This design just has that perfect je ne sais quoi – making it great for a day out and about, a picnic, a party, even a Summer wedding. I truly love it! I was able to find one of them online on eBay in size 00 – see in the carousel below and if it’s your size, grab it!
- A Nano Bag. I’ve talked about the nano and micro bag trend in my recent blog post – it’s still going strong. This Jacquemus Le Chiquito Straw Bag is a great Summer companion. Full disclosure – it’s really pricey for what it is (even if you grab it on sale) but I do love the look of it juxtaposed against Summer clothing. It looks like a doll bag, but that has some interesting charm to it, it’s almost whimsical. There are similar ones that are far less pricey – check them out below!
- The Flat Stylish Sandals. I mentioned before how much I love Margaux NYC shoes – I first discovered them when Gal Meets Glam did a collaboration with them a few years ago, and have been following the brand since. I’ve recently become one of their ambassadors because I love the brand so much – and am happy to share that I have a special code you guys can use for 10% off your first shoe order via THIS LINK!
I highly recommend their designs -they are well-made, functional and really adorable and feminine. These Flat Sandals are a life-saver for Summer-time. They are easy to throw on, the straps don’t hurt (they are actually designed in a way where they don’t rub as much as other sandal designs would), and the straps are dainty enough to not create a harsh horizontal line on your leg that can truncate your leg length awkwardly. I got them in the “ivory calf” (white), but they also come in a myriad of other colors, including platinum, python, and a new “exotic butterfly” print in collaboration with Schumacher – so they go with everything! - A Pair of Cat-eye Sunglasses. Yet again, these Chloe Sunglasses complete my look!
I hope this inspires you to try out a similar outfit this Summer! As always, please feel free to share the outfits you create via Instagram, using hashtag #ModnitsaOutfit in your posts, and I’ll be sure repost them on my stories!
