Markdown Mondays: Elegant in Gray
Hope everyone had a safe and warm weekend in the North-East! We had a ton of snow in Brooklyn, but the wonderland seemed to only last one day, as Sunday everyone was busy shoveling and the pure white snow turned into gray slush in a matter of hours.
Even though gray can be a pretty depressing color (if you associate it with snow for example), I like to think of it as a fashion-y neutral that you can add to your wardrobe to replace the black (if it’s dark gray) or to add feminine softness (if it’s a lighter, paler gray). It can also be used to dress up your look (if it’s silver gray) and generally sends a pretty refined, classy message which is not polarizing but at the same time polished.
Check out today’s #MarkdownMondays for a selection of gray pieces to add to your wardrobe to achieve the desired effect. I love these wedge tall boots from Anthropologie, which pair well with a skirt, dress or a pair of tucked-in jeans or leggings. The piped gray blazer from Banana Republic is fun and stylish, and the longer cut allows you to play around with proportions, while the piping adds a touch of prep. The mock neck sweater from Ann Taylor is a versatile gem – it can be worn tucked in or untucked; you can even add a belt for more waist definition, but it doesn’t need it because of it’s ribbed bottom. The 3/4 sleeve draws more attention to your arms – making them look longer and slimmer, and the off-white shade goes with everything.
