Zimmermann Maxi Dress for Fall

Zimmermann Dress Coclico Booties Polene Bag Outfit by Modnitsa Styling

Happy October! I’m really excited that this Fall is still feeling a lot like late Summer – and that I’m getting so much use out of my denim jackets and sweatshirts before it turns into sweater and coat Season here in NYC.

Today’s post is dedicated to a dress that started my obsession with Zimmermann – I actually styled my client in it over 2 years ago, and purchased it for myself when it went on sale that holiday Season. But then 2020 happened, and I never had a chance to wear it – until now. It’s called Amalfi Floral Print Linen Dress – it’s sadly sold out since it’s been so long since I purchased it, but I did find a few similar ones that you can shop via the carousel below, and will be on the lookout if this one pops up on eBay or Mercari. Be sure to follow me on Instagram so you can get notified if I find it!

I love that the dress has a Russian Tsarina-inspired print, but is still wearable, and the linen fabric is super breathable – so even with larger balloon sleeves and maxi length the dress is perfect for transitional weather.

Here are the exact ingredients to this outfit formula, and how I styled it:

  1. The Maxi Dress. I did add a few styling touches to the dress as it’s fairly long and can overwhelm if not adjusted. I pushed up the sleeves *and also experimented with folding them in half for another look* – and opened up the top buttons on the neckline to give it balance. I also made sure to wear booties with heels (see the ones I picked below) so the maxi skirt wouldn’t drag on the ground, and to keep the look elegant.
  2. A Polene Mini Bag. I’ve styled this Polene Numero Un Nano Bag for Spring (here) and for Summer (here) and it makes a great transition into Fall as well. The color is so neutral and feminine (I have it in “lilac”) – it makes the bag Season-less. I still think it’s a great investment for the price as it’s great quality and very chic!
  3. The Neutral Booties. These Coclico Link Booties are always on heavy rotation come Fall/Winter; I love how comfortable they are despite their heel height. I have to say – Coclico boots are some of the most unique and well-made on the market right now!

I hope this inspires you to try out a similar outfit this Fall! As always, please feel free to share the outfits you create via Instagram, using hashtag #ModnitsaOutfit in your posts, and I’ll be sure repost them on my stories!
