The Perfect Jumpsuit For Spring
Last week of February, wow — I do feel like we’re in the home stretch to get to Spring. I’m starting to get excited as I see new Spring collections in stores, and every once in a while we have a nice day with 50 degree-ish weather, which allows us to shed some layers — and that feels really good.
As I help my clients update their wardrobes for Spring, one item that I’m recommending they add this Season is a great jumpsuit. Just this past weekend, one of my clients and I went shopping, and picked up this stunning jumpsuit for her at Banana Republic, and many of the stores I shop at are coming out with updates in various colors, styles, silhouettes, fabrics and lengths.
I think a jumpsuit is a fantastic staple piece for every woman’s wardrobe; not only is it a one-and-done outfit — just add accessories — but it can also be dressed up for a special event (even a wedding) or dressed down for a brunch, running errands or a day out in the city with your kid. It’s also a nice piece for travel – you can roll it small into your suitcase and create various looks with it by layering it with a top/sweater/waist-tie chambray shirt, turning it into a “pants” layer, or pair it with a denim jacket one day, with a leather moto jacket another day, or wear a turtleneck underneath if it’s short sleeved to create yet another look. The possibilities are endless!
For this look, I picked this Carlie Utility Jumpsuit from Anthropologie (naturally, I had to have it because of the name alone!) I love its salmon color, and the silky fabric makes it feel more dressed up, juxtaposed against the utility pockets. It ties at the waist with a pretty bow — making it equal parts feminine and sleek.
I paired it with my Rebecca Taylor Peplum Leather Blazer, Manolo Blahnik Pumps and Pucci Clutch. As the final finishing touch, I picked out these stunning Marly Hoop Feather Earrings by Gas Bijoux. They add a touch of glamour and sophistication to this look, making it appropriate for a special occasion (like a chic wedding, birthday party or bridal/baby shower).
Gas Bijoux has been one of my favorite NYC jewelry brands for as long as they’ve been around (18 years!). They make their jewelry in St.Tropez, bringing the colorful sunshine pieces to NYC in a much-needed way. I featured them in my “hidden gems” guide to NYC Shopping in partnership with British Airways a few years back – and always love introducing my clients to this cute little Nolita shop (they do have 2 other locations in NYC in Midtown East and UES).
Hope this inspires you to pick up a jumpsuit (or two, or three) for Spring. Would love to see how you style them, please share on instagram and be sure to use #ModnitsaStyle so I can repost them on my stories!
