Summer Date Night (Date Afternoon) Look
I can’t believe we’re almost in June and Summer has (unofficially) started!
I have been truly enjoying these past few weeks of warm weather (minus the intermittent rain) and taking in all the greenery around, which has been really uplifting my mood and creativity.
This Summer Season I’ve been getting more motivated to dress up even if just going for a walk with Charlie as it makes me feel so much better, more on top of it and put-together. I’ve been getting some amazing comments from neighborhood moms on some of my outfits – the latest being that it “made her want to try harder in dressing up for every day”. I think as a busy mom or any busy woman (or man) it’s very easy to get into a rut and just put on whatever you first grab out of the dryer, so as I’ve mentioned before, building outfit formulas for yourself is key — and having all the formula pieces “in stock” so that the looks don’t get stale and keep being fun and fresh.
In today’s look, I wanted to share a great date night/date afternoon outfit formula that I’ve been loving lately. The ingredients are:
- A pair of high-waisted shorts. These ones are from Sézane and the style is called “Lucas”; they have a fun front bow, and come in varying colors besides this one, but you can also choose ones from chambray, silk, jersey cotton or even linen. The key is length — if they hit just about mid-thigh, they are going to feel more comfortable and will be more appropriate for wearing out (and not just beach-ready).
- A flirty top. This Manon one is also from Sézane and it comes in 3 patterns/colors, including stripes and birds. I love the ruffly straps — that can either be worn fully on your shoulders, or slightly off shoulder; you can also play around with unbuttoning some of the buttons – making it more provocative-looking in that truly French way. It also looks fabulous from the back, giving it that unexpected dramatic twist.
- Neutral flats. These ones are a fairly new splurge by Chloe. I’ve been hearing about how comfortable these Lauren leather scalloped ballet flats are but was skeptical, and have to report that they are some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. The leather stretches to perfection around your foot, eliminating discomfort and no “toe crotches” are in sight 😉 The scalloped edges add a fun touch, and the gorgeous color of this pair goes with everything (they do come in other colors and suede also, in case you like variety). I think a pair of neutral flats is a wardrobe must-have for every woman. They can look dressy even though they’re not heels, and therefore class up even a suit look when you don’t feel like running around in stilettos.
- The finishing touches of this look were kept simple as I wanted to preserve the clean nature of the outfit; I stuck with studs and coordinating necklace, and my classy patent leather Chanel double flap bag.
I hope this inspires you to try this outfit formula on your next date night! Please feel free to share the looks you create using hashtag #ModnitsaOutfit in your posts, and I’ll be sure repost them on my stories!
