Styling the Farm Rio Tropical Romper for Summer
I’m always on the lookout for new brands that bring colorful and patterned designs to the market – as one of my goals as a Personal Stylist and Fashion Consultant is to inspire my clients to wear more colors and patterns. I think bold color combinations and fresh patterns look alive, unique and creative -and when last Summer I first came across a Brazilian brand Farm Rio I knew they packed it all + great quality and beautiful fit. They have since expanded and even opened a free-standing boutique in Soho – and I noticed that their designs have been becoming increasingly popular even amongst those who typically opt for neutrals and dark colors.
I love what the brand stands for – on their “about page” they say that they “believe in keeping it alive”; quality and details – and emotions created by these elements, because a powerful product inspires positive transformations in everyone and everywhere”. This rings incredibly true to my own beliefs – which inspire my work with my clients every day – and that makes this brand even more interesting and attractive to me personally.
So for the look in this style post, I chose one of their designs – the Tropical Romper – and styled it for Summer. I think the most important thing about styling a bright, colorful piece of clothing is creating a balance with accessories so as not to take away from it or to overpower, so I chose my style details carefully.
Here are the exact ingredients to this outfit formula, and how I styled it:
- The Colorful Patterned Romper. I love that the design combines strong and curved lines – balancing out the square neckline with ruffled sleeves. The length of the shorts is also perfect – and the belt helps define the waist.
- The White Leather Sandals. The balancing act happens via the shoes as I chose simple & stylish Inez Isa Sandals in Chalk Leather. They are classy and clean, and give a nice pop against the colorful romper.
- The Rattan Circle Bag. I think a rattan or straw bag is pretty much synonymous with Summer – and a circle rattan bag is a great accessory to complete most Summer looks. I was super excited to find an elevated version of a circle bag with this Blossom Crossbody Bag from Anthropologie that has a printed floral design on the traditional circle silhouette. It makes the bag so unique! I also chose it for this outfit as the yellow floral print continued the color story of the romper – without competing with it. I found a few other beautiful straw and rattan bags – I think even though it’s August and Summer is on its way out, they will remain stylish and on-trend for years to come so they’re worth investing into!
I hope this inspires you to try out a similar outfit this Summer! As always, please feel free to share the outfits you create via Instagram, using hashtag #ModnitsaOutfit in your posts, and I’ll be sure repost them on my stories!
