Perfect Fall Dress Look
I honestly can’t believe it’s already November, and Halloween is behind us, leaving us staring at Christmas decorations that seemed to have appeared overnight at most stores. With Daylight Savings this weekend, I’m really craving any and all sunshine that’s possible – and refuse to fully embrace the cold weather and dark colors, so I’m still leaning on those transitional colors and pieces in my wardrobe.
For today’s look, I wanted to share one of the “it” colors of the Season – “Wine” or “Bordeaux” purplish-burgundy-red. It’s a saturated and rich color, but not devoid of femininity and refinement.
The looks features a new Gal Meets Glam Dress from last month’s arrivals – a beautiful Fit-n-Flare belted silhouette. To go with the dress color, I chose booties in red’s color compliment (green), and accessories to coordinate in the dress’s color family. This keeps the look both interesting and elegant – as monochromatic color combinations are pleasing to the eye and read as sophisticated, while contrasty ones bring out the feeling of fun and uniqueness.
This outfit formula is great for every day, or a special date/work event.
The exact ingredients of this look are:
- The Fit & Flare Dress. This one is called “Clara” and is a belted silhouette from the GMG Collection. I love that it defines the waist and is not too long – but maintains the air of refinement. You can also swap out the belt it comes with for something with more contrast – either in green, dark brown or navy.
- The High Ankle Bootie. I’m always asked by my clients about this bootie height as far as what it best pairs with – does it work with jeans? Do you tuck them in? Is it good for dresses? I actually love this high ankle bootie with dresses and skirts – especially if it’s fitted to the leg rather than wider around the ankle/calf. It’s a little more challenging with skinny jeans – as tucking into the jeans doesn’t always look great, but it works perfectly with cropped ankle pants. The key is to choose the colors of the pants + booties wisely so they don’t clash and therefore create a harsh horizontal line. I prefer to use tone-on-tone colors together, or to make sure there is a little bit of skin showing between the bootie and the pants. These Laeve Coclico Booties in “vert” (green) are one of my favorite silhouettes from the brand this season.
- A Structured Circle Bag. I’ve been in love with this Mansur Gavriel Circle Cross Body for as long as I remember, and was excited to find it in the burgundy tanned leather. It’s the ideal Fall Bag – roomy yet classy (and the structure helps it from feeling/looking frumpy or too full). It also has a cross-body strap (hello, hands free #momlife!)
- A Scarf to Add a Pop of Color. I love this Zara pleated scarf from the Spring (and talk about value, it was $20!). Unfortunately, all sold out online, but I found a few others for your shopping enjoyment – see below! I tied mine around the bag to break up the color in the outfit, but it can also go around your neck, or even woven through your belt as a creative and fun accent!
I hope this inspires you to try out a similar look for Fall! Please feel free to share the outfits you create via Instagram, using hashtag #ModnitsaOutfit in your posts, and I’ll be sure repost them on my stories!
