Markdown Mondays: Soft & Feminine Wintery Shades
Happy MLK Day!
To celebrate the holiday (and well-deserved day off for many of us), today’s #MarkdownMondays is all about creating the perfect soft & feminine Wintery outfit.
In the Winter, everything is very crisp and clear – the air is strong and fresh (and oh-so-chilly), the snow is super white, the ground is super black. So to counteract that intensity and masculine feel, for today’s look I chose muted and toned-down pieces to help you express your feminine and romantic side.
The outfit starts with this stunning Banana Republic Ikat Pleat-Skirt Shirtdress in a soft gray with pink florals; it’s so chic and elegant, and the pleated skirt adds a touch of flirty flourish. It goes really well with pumps (something light gray like these ones from Cole Haan) and will also pair perfectly with with nude or bright pink shoes for contrast.
This super fun First Snow Sweater Coat from Anthropologie (sold out online but available in select stores) adds a bit of whimsy with its swing silhouette, and is a great combo of navy and off-white – which goes with everything from jeans & tees, to dresses and pencil skirts.
My favorite piece in the ensemble is this Double-Cloth Lady Day Coat from J.Crew in a stunning “heritage green”. It’s very elegant – and not too bright while still adding a pop of color to the outfit.
To complete the look, I chose this fabulous Orchard Street Arla Bag from Kate Spade in “oyster blue” shade, and this Jeweled Flower Necklace from Ann Taylor (which is now only $17!!)
