Fruity and Fresh Outfit for Summer
Happy 2nd week of August! I heard the other day that they call this “the height of Summer” – which is not entirely how I see it as I feel like Summer is definitely slipping away – but I’m holding onto to it for dear life. So for today’s look, I decided to style an outfit that truly captures Summer in its nature. It’s all about fruity Summer goodness.
For this look, I coordinated two pieces that featured colorful fruit (shorts and bag) – and balanced them out with two white pieces (top and shoes) to maintain freshness in the outfit and create visual harmony.
Here are the exact ingredients to this outfit formula, and how I styled it:
- The Cara Cara Whitney Shorts. I fell in love with Cara Cara colorful designs on a recent Personal Shopping Session with my client, when we styled her in this Melanie Tropical Fruit Cara Cara Midi Skirt, so when I saw that this print also came in a shorts design – I knew I had to have it as it epitomizes Summer. My other favorite details about these shorts besides the print are the wider leg with cuff (comfortable AND flattering) and the belt that you can tie into a flirty bow.
- The White Top. As a balancing act, I chose to wear the shorts with a plain white tee to tame the print and break up the overall color and pattern in the ensemble. One of the best ways to make a print stand out and come alive is to put it next to a stark bright – like a white or black.
This Vince Tee is my fave – it’s very soft and form-fitting, and tucks in super well into shorts to create a seamless look. I found it on Saks Off 5th for $35 – which is amazing value. Check it out in the carousel below! - The White Leather Sandals. The other part of the balancing act are these Margaux Flat Sandals in Ivory Calf. I’ve styled them with oh so many looks this Summer, and they continue to be a favorite.
- The Mansur Gavriel Tote Bag. I coordinated the print of the shorts with a similar print in this Limited Edition Pascucci Tote Bag. It seemed like a logical continuation of the fruit pattern – but with larger spacing in between the fruits – creating both contrast and flow.
I hope this inspires you to try out a similar outfit this Summer! As always, please feel free to share the outfits you create via Instagram, using hashtag #ModnitsaOutfit in your posts, and I’ll be sure repost them on my stories!
