Anything But Boring Spring Suiting with Theory

Theory Pant Suit for Spring by Modnitsa Styling

As we get closer to Spring (despite all the show set backs), I’m excited as I start to update my wardrobe and help my clients update theirs with Seasonal staples. The stores are rolling out their Spring collections with new colors and items coming in every week, which feel like a breath of much-needed fresh air. One of my favorite stores to shop (both for myself and my clients) is Theory, and I consider them a classic choice for both casual elegant elevated basics and more modern suiting. Truthfully, if my job required me to wear a suit, Theory would probably be my first option, and my closet would be filled with their gorgeous pieces. Since I don’t typically wear a full-suit, I usually pick up their separates and more casual items for myself – but a lot of my clients in more business corporate and business casual work environments love their silhouettes and fabrics that make a more traditional suit feel clean, stylish and current. I also like that there is a variety of style options in jackets, skirt and pants, as well as dresses – so you can create multiple combinations of different “2-piece suit looks”.

A few months ago, Theory came out with a new line of suiting called “Good Wool”, their most environmentally responsible collection to date. The suiting is made from premium, traceable Australian merino wool that is woven at a century-old Italian mill using the latest energy-saving technology.  It’s soft and lightweight, comfortable with a bit of stretch, it is mindfully manufactured from start to finish.

I love seeing what colors they come out with each season for the collection, and when I saw this Season’s updates, I couldn’t resist styling the Classic Slim Crop Pant + Long Blazer in Opal Green for this look, pairing them with a Silk Easy Woven Tee in an orange color (not available online).

Green and Orange is one of my favorite color combinations; it’s part of a “Triad Color Harmony” together with Purple – so naturally the accessories I chose for this outfit featured a deep purple color. I wore my go-to suede pumps by Miu Miu (which were an amazing buy almost 10 years ago at BG during their End-of-Summer Sale), and finished the look with these stunning purple feather Bermude Earrings by Gas Bijoux (featured here in a different color way).

As a final addition to the look, I carried my new Louis Vuitton MM Neverfull Tote in Damier Azur – which has quickly become my go-to bag for client session days, when I have to bring everything from Color Analysis Drapes to extra bottles of water and snacks. I’m considering adding a bag organizer to it – but am on the fence since I kind of enjoy the idea of just “throwing everything in” more casually to have it live up to its name 😉

If you work at an office that requires you to wear business casual or business attire, I hope this look inspires you to have more fun with your everyday suiting — after all, it doesn’t have to be boring even if it’s more conservative in its style.

If you do end up trying out some suiting pieces from Theory, please share on instagram and be sure to use #ModnitsaStyle so I can repost them on my stories!
