A Fall Afternoon Dream Dress by Gal Meets Glam
Happy September! Hope everyone’s LDW was full of fun, sunshine and relaxation. We decided to stay in NYC this year as we have a few trips planned in the coming months, and it’s actually a good time to enjoy a relatively empty city — not waiting too long for brunch at our favorite neighborhood spots, and having family time at the Park 🙂
As we head into Fall, despite the weather still being super warm (looking at you, 92 degree heat!), most of us are starting to think of rotating our wardrobes. Even though it feels a bit premature weather-wise, the mood of “after-Labor Day” fashion is always slightly more subdued. So how do we not compromise our comfort but still dress season-appropriately?
Check out my 3 styling tips below!
Tip 1: SLIGHTLY HEAVIER-LOOKING FABRICS. Textures and fabric weight definitely have a Fall-like quality, think brocade, plaid, gabardine silk. Sometimes you can imitate the feel of those fabrics by choosing patterns that resemble them, and looking for silhouettes of clothing that appear more season-appropriate (for example, a lightweight sweater knit that’s longer can appear more Fall-like than a cotton cardigan). For todays outfit inspiration, I chose this Gal Meets Glam Margaret Dress in a brocade silk fabric; the dress is season-less in its weight (even though it is lined) – but works great for Autumn when paired with accessories and colors of the Season.
Tip 2: DEEPER SHADES OF YOUR FAVORITE COLORS. As we get into Fall fashion, more stores start carrying mustard yellows, army greens, maroon reds, pumpkin browns and oranges and plum purples – which are all rich and saturated colors, perfect for getting us in the mood of seasons changing, ripe apples and apple cider, pumpkin patches and turning leaves. For today’s look I paired the dress (which is on sale by the way) with a pair of mustard kitten heels by Miss Albright from Anthropologie – that are now for sale in my Poshmark Shop at an amazing price 😉
Tip 3: NEUTRAL ACCESSORIES. Neutrals always have a more subdued quality — along with versatility, so they’re great additions to your Fall looks. You can still continue some of your favorite Summer trends as I did here with my basket bag — the texture of the weave resembles apple-picking baskets appropriate for the Fall Season.
I hope this gives you a little inspiration for adding creativity to your transitional wardrobe looks! Would love to see some of the outfits you put together, be sure to use my hashtag #modnitsaoutfits on Instagram and I’ll them repost in my stories!

My first reaction to this dress was “Ooooh it has pockets!!”. LOL, I think we are all suckers for pockets in dresses!

I completely agree! I was just telling my husband the same thing the other day when putting on another dress that didn’t have them. It’s like even if I don’t use them, they’re nice to have 🙂
